"I have a history of excessive exercise and was nervous about triggering that, but Naomi's approach was the perfect fit. She was very good at determining what kind of guidance I needed - at times encouraging me to take it more slowly in order to stay present in my body, and at other times pushing me to go further, but doing so in such a kind, loving way, that I really responded to.

I've gained a lot of confidence in my yoga practice, feel so much better in my body, and have now been able to make the transition to attending group classes. I highly recommend one-on-one sessions with Naomi!"

— Autumn, former 1:1 client, current member of The Sanctuary

I work with people one-on-one as a Yoga Therapist, Yoga Instructor, and Health and Wellbeing Coach. You can read about each one below, but if you’re still not sure what’s right for you, schedule a call with me and we can figure it out together.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is a beautiful, holistic approach to health that considers the whole person and can be used to help address specific ailments that you might be dealing with now (physical, emotional, and/or spiritual), and also as a preventative measure to help you maintain the health that you currently have. It’s about helping people reconnect with who they truly are, the idea being that that is what leads us to improved health and well-being.

In the 3-minute video below, I give a basic introduction to Yoga Therapy. If you would rather read about it, the transcript of the video can be found beneath the video.

What’s the difference between private Yoga lessons and Yoga Therapy?

As you’ll learn in the video below, Yoga Therapy involves an in-depth intake session and may involve recommendations that go beyond just a physical Yoga practice. If you are sure that you’re only interested in the physical practice and you’re not interested in going deeper, it could be that private Yoga lessons would be most appropriate for you. However, if you suspect that there may be underlying issues that are affecting your experience in your body, I recommend that you do a Yoga Therapy intake. We can discuss and decide together during our free call if you’re not sure.

Hi there. I’m Naomi Finkelstein with Well-Rounded Wellness and I want to talk a bit about what Yoga Therapy is. It is not such a well-known practice yet (although it is up and coming) but it’s really a beautiful practice and process. It starts with you the client completing a pretty extensive intake form that kind of goes into all of the different areas of your life, helping you to sort of take stock of what’s going on for you, what challenges you’re dealing with, but also what’s important to you in your life. From there, we have our first intake session which is an hour and a half and consists of going over your form together so that you can expand on some of your answers and I can really get a good sense of who you are, what’s important to you, and what you’re struggling with. From there, I put together a plan of care for you and in our next session, our first follow-up session, I go over my recommendations for you and give you a sense of the types of things that I think would be helpful for you and also that I think you would be interested in and that you would enjoy based on what I learn about you in our first session together. This includes practices that we can do together in our sessions and also practices and strategies that you can use on your own at home.

Practices that I might recommend include things like Yoga Asana or the physical yoga practice, Pranayama or breathing exercises, meditation techniques, relaxation techniques, Ayurvedic recommendations, lifestyle practices, all sorts of different activities, depending on who you are, what’s important to you, and what feeds you and what makes you feel whole. Because Yoga Therapy is really about helping people reconnect with who they are, with the idea that that’s what leads us to health and well-being. I think it’s really a beautiful holistic approach that can be used to help address specific ailments that you might be dealing with now, and also as a preventative measure to help you maintain the health that you have currently.

So if you are interested in exploring what Yoga Therapy has to offer, I’m happy to get on a call with you so you can ask any questions you have and make sure it’s something that is a good fit for you, but also if you’re ready and you know you want to get started, you can schedule that first intake with me. Thanks so much and I look forward to working with you.

What is Health and Wellbeing Coaching?

If you are someone who is mostly looking for support to incorporate health-promoting habits into your life, you might be interested in a more traditional coaching model. In this style of coaching, we spend time helping you to create a wellness vision for yourself, and then I guide you to identify what the practices are that will support you in reaching it. With my help, you’ll create 3-month goals and then weekly goals to move you towards them. This approach utilizes motivational interviewing, supporting you to create realistic and achievable weekly goals, and harnessing the power of your successes (however small they may be) to inspire you to keep going, even when things don’t quite go as planned. The animated video below does a nice job demonstrating the coaching model.

This video was produced by Wellcoaches, which is the Coaching organization that I trained with.
