If you are anything like me, the idea of combining yoga and art and your feelings about your body Just. Makes. Sense. From the beginning of my journey reclaiming and healing my relationship with my body, art has been an important part of it. I am mostly self taught as an artist and have just gotten good at following creative impulses to find my own forms of expression. I taught this workshop about eight years ago(!) and I can’t wait to bring it back with all that I’ve learned and experienced since then.

Join me for a joyful, powerful, expressive day of movement, creativity, and community!

FAQ

Q: Do I have to have previous experience with yoga to attend?

A: No. My teaching style allows people with a variety of experiences and abilities to practice together simultaneously. This class will be mostly gentle, with options for more dynamic experiences at times. Participants can practice while seated in a chair, standing, or on the floor.

Q: Seriously though, I’m so bad at art. Am I gonna feel bad?

A: I will have a variety of materials available, including collage materials. If you don’t want to draw or paint, you don’t have to! You are also welcome to bring any materials you have and want to bring. I believe that we are all artists and that the act of creating art can be very therapeutic, regardless of our skill. In so many cases, the real challenge is simply getting beyond our own self-judgment.

Q: Why are you qualified to teach this class?

A: I am an artist and a fat positive and fat-identified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Health and Wellbeing Coach, and Licensed Be Body Positive Facilitator. She has been involved with The Body Positive (TBP) since 2014 as a volunteer, staff, facilitator, and contractor. She co-created TBP's online courses and trainings, and co-facilitated many in-person trainings and workshops with the organization. She is extremely passionate about helping people to connect more deeply and lovingly with their bodies, and has been doing so since becoming a Yoga Instructor in 2009. She offers one-on-one Yoga Therapy and Wellness Coaching sessions for teens and adults with a variety of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. Naomi is also an experienced speaker and educator; the events and panels she’s spoken at and the workshops she’s taught can be found under the About section of this website.
