Yoga for Diabetes Virtual Retreat
January 8-9, 2022

Are you looking for ways to improve your Diabetes management?

Do you find yourself getting overwhelmed by the nuanced demands of self-care?

The Yoga for Diabetes virtual retreat will emphasize two things: community support and yogic strategies for managing stress, which have been shown to have significant positive impacts on blood glucose levels.

The agenda will include a combination of theory and practice. We'll have an active yoga practice* both mornings and a relaxation practice both afternoons. There will also be time for discussing various relevant aspects of yoga philosophy as related to diabetes as well as time for connecting and sharing with the other group participants.

I am a HAES®-aligned, anti-diet, and body positive Yoga Therapist. Please note that I do not promote weight loss as a strategy for any type of long term wellness, and so I do not teach from that framework. I am also sensitive to the needs of those who have a history of disordered eating and will do my best to create a space that is comfortable for those who've had that experience.

*The yoga practice will be tailored to meet the needs of the participants who attend. Participants of all abilities are welcome and options will be given to ensure accessibility. Our one-on-one intake session will help me get a better sense of your needs so that I can meet them during the practice. The style of yoga we'll be practicing is Hatha Yoga, which is characterized by slow, controlled movements and holding postures while focusing on the breath. We can discuss any questions you have during our intake.

Schedule

We will meet virtually on Saturday, January 8th and Sunday, January 9th from 9am-12pm CT and 3-5pm CT (both days). Times listed are in the central time zone.

This workshop is being offered on a donation basis, with a suggested amount (for those who are able) of $150. You are still very welcome to attend the workshop if you cannot make a donation beyond the $25. Additionally, if you need to be reimbursed for the $25, please let me know and I will do so once the workshop is over.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

"Sometimes when I read about yogic practices, I think, "I could never do that," but Naomi reframed some self care concepts and yogic practices to make them seem much more accessible and attainable. Since our workshop, I've been feeling more grounded, aware, and focused. I also appreciate the way she talked about food and movement while emphasizing that, although these ideas have been co-opted by diet culture, our goal in this workshop was never weight loss, and none of the suggestions were iron-clad rules."
